Jost Van Dyke
The smallest of the four main islands of the BVI, Jost Van Dyke is arguably the most popular. Home to such iconic sites as the Soggy Dollar Bar, Foxy's (these two places make most Top 10 lists - worldwide), the Bubbly Pool, close to Sandy Cay, and so much more, it is easy to see why.
This will be another one of those pages that evolves since I have just scratched the surface of what is on offer here. Got a good story, or some insight, let me know, and I'll try to incorporate it on the website!
White Bay
On the south shore of Jost is White Bay, home to the world famous Soggy Dollar Bar, along with a host of other beach bars and eateries. Its a popular bay where you either anchor out or catch a mooring ball, then swim into the beach. Back in the day when Soggy was the only bar, and only took cash, the dollars used to pay for drinks were soggy, hence the name. In fact there is still a line over the bar to hang wet bills from to dry. Its the story I've heard.
They are also home to the original Painkiller, and if you ask me, they make one of the best. They also have food, and if you're there on a Sunday, you can get the BBQ special platter (ribs, chicken, salad, plantains, corn on the cob, and lobster mac & cheese) - and I can tell you its fantastic! While eating it, at least 3 people asked where we got it, having not seen the signs on the bar.
White bay is not an overnight stay because the anchorage is exposed, but it is an easy jump from there to Cane Garden Bay or around the corner to Great Harbour. Be careful driving thru the harbor to stay in the channel coming and going, and watch for swimmers - they're all over the place!
